About the Seminar

Filipino-American individuals and organizations attending this Seminar will gain knowledge on what it means to be a minority certified company in the U.S., how to set it up and establish network with big U.S. corporations, and the many business opportunities open to a Filipino-American minority certified company..

This Seminar will give valuable leads to Filipino-American companies - once they are minority certified – on ways to meet and discuss their products and services with various U.S. private companies like Verizon, Coca Cola, Merck, AOL Time Warner, Disney, Major League Baseball, Macy’s and Wal-Mart, and enter into business contracts with them.  There are also similar business opportunities with U.S. government agencies.

About the Speakers

Mr. David Blau

Regional Director, USPAACC Northeast U.S.A., and CEO of East West Supply Chain

Mr. David Blau serves as the CEO of East West Supply Chain, and has an extensive business background in management and international business spanning product development, marketing, manufacturing, sourcing, and fulfillment.

Currently, Mr. Blau provides full value chain solutions for U.S. Icon clients. He has successfully relocated China companies in ASEAN and other third countries to maximize trade opportunities for them.


With more than 20 years experience, Mr. Blau had served as Senior Vice President and Chief Strategic Officer at Sparkice, where he had business development, sales and delivery responsibilities for the North America region. Sparkice opened the first Internet Café’s in Beijing in 1996 – and its’ E-Commerce Platform was adopted by MOFCOM as China’s E-Commerce Standard. In 2004, Mr. Blau conducted China’s first RFID Pilots for M.I.I.

Prior to that, Mr. Blau had been CEO of a public cosmetic company, which sold to both the mass and prestige markets. He also has vast experience in writing instruments, decorative accessories and stationery.

Mr. Blau is well known for his expertise in direct marketing. He also ran one of the first U.S. based home shopping services and is very well versed in almost every area of retail. In 1979, he became one of the first to sell business publications within China and he has sourced and purchased products from China and internationally for over 25 years.

Ms. Jackie La Joie

Chairwoman, US PAACC Northeast U.S.A, and Supply Diversity Manager of Merck and Co., Inc.

Ms. Jackie LaJoie is Associate Director of Supplier Diversity and has overall leadership responsibility for the development of a world class Supplier Diversity program at Merck.  She has 19 years of Supplier Diversity experience, including program development, supply base diversification, internal and external relationship development, multicultural outreach, mentor programs, supplier development, and corporate-wide program implementation.


Mr. Savio S. Chan

President, USPAACC Northeast U.S.A

savio_imgMr. Savio S. Chan is a pre-eminent expert on doing business in China. He serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of US China Partners Inc., a privately held business development firm specializing in Market Entry, Strategic Sourcing and Marketing Development in China for U.S. companies. He also facilitates local and cross-border joint ventures among leading Chinese multinationals as well as Fortune 1000 companies.

Mr. Savio is a frequent keynote speaker and panelist at various business and technology events including the American Express Minority Small Business Seminars, Microsoft technology conferences and the e-Business Conference and Expo, co-organized by BusinessWeek and InformationWeek. He was also named "40 Under 40" business leader Award by Long Island Business News, Hofstra University and the Bank of New York. Newsday named him one of the Top 10 Movers and Shakers on Long Island. U.S. Small Business Administration also presented the Community Service Award to him during their Annual Award Luncheon.

Mr. Savio, who attended Baruch College with a major in International Marketing, has been featured in numerous industry and trade success profiles, including articles in The New York Times, Chief Executive Magazine, InformationWeek, VARBusiness, Long Island Business News, and Newsday.

Mr. Savio serves as Vice Chairman of ITP China.  He also serves as senior advisor for the Outsourcing Institute and is on the boards of Executive Council of New York. In 2006, Long Island Business News named him “Top 100 Most Influential”.  In 2007, ExecuLeaders presented him a special award in the category of International Business Leadership. He also hosts the PBS syndicated TV show, Asian America, sponsored by Wal-Mart. In 2009, Savio was voted Salutatorian of the 40 Under 40 Class of 1999. Mr. Savio was recently awarded the 2009 CUNY (City University of New York) Asian American Distinguished Alumni Award.
